Playa Blanca Excursions

Looking for the best Playa Blanca excursions? Whether you want a relaxing boat trip, an adrenaline-pumping buggy tour or a full-day island sightseeing trip, there’s plenty to choose from. This guide covers the top excursions and activities available from Playa Blanca, with practical info on how to book.

Boat trip excursion from Playa Blanca Lanzarote

Boat Trips & Catamaran Cruises

Boat trips are among the most popular Playa Blanca excursions. Most depart from Marina Rubicon or the Playa Blanca harbour and head along the stunning southern coastline to the Papagayo beaches.

Catamaran cruises are a highlight. These typically last 3–4 hours and include swimming and snorkelling stops in the crystal-clear bays of Papagayo, with lunch and drinks on board. Some offer paddleboarding and kayaking too. Options range from family-friendly trips to adults-only sailings.

Private charters are available for a more exclusive experience. Lanzayachting offers catamaran charters for up to 12 people. They also have a luxury 20-metre Sunseeker Predator for something truly special. Contact them on +34 606 33 21 15.

Chill Out Cruises operate from the ferry harbour. Their boats sail along the southern shoreline to Papagayo, where you can swim, snorkel and paddleboard — or just relax on deck with a drink.

Diving & the Museo Atlántico

One of the most unique Playa Blanca excursions is a dive to the Museo Atlántico — Europe’s first underwater sculpture museum. Created by British artist Jason deCaires Taylor, the sculptures sit at around 14 metres depth just off the coast. Rubicon Diving at Marina Rubicon runs daily guided dives for both beginners and certified divers. No experience is needed — beginners start with a practice dive in the marina before heading out to the museum.

For a less hands-on underwater experience, there’s also a submarine tour that departs from nearby Puerto Calero. It takes you 30 metres below the surface to view marine life and shipwrecks through large viewing windows — great for families and non-swimmers.

Playa Blanca Excursions on Land

Buggy & Quad Tours

Buggy tours are one of the most popular land-based Playa Blanca excursions. You’ll drive off-road through volcanic landscapes, along coastal tracks and past hidden beaches. Tours last 2–3 hours and pick-ups from Playa Blanca are included. Choose from standard buggies or faster 200hp models (over-21s with a full licence only). Quad bike tours are also available.

Cycling & E-Bikes

Paradise Bikes in the heart of Playa Blanca (Calle Limones 96) offers road bikes, mountain bikes, e-bikes and children’s bikes for hire. They also arrange guided cycling tours through the volcanic landscapes, including routes to the Los Ajaches Natural Park. Helmets, locks and baskets are included. For more details, see our bike hire guide.

Walking & Hiking

Playa Blanca offers some lovely walks. The seafront promenade stretches 5 miles along the coast. For something more active, hike up Montaña Roja (about 30 minutes to the summit) for 360-degree views, or walk east along the coast to the Papagayo beaches. The Los Ajaches Natural Park has several trails through dramatic volcanic scenery.

Water Sports

Playa Dorada is the main hub for water sports in the resort. You can hire jet skis, kayaks, paddleboards and pedalos. Jet ski tours along the coastline are available in sessions of 20 minutes to 2 hours. Kayak and snorkelling combo trips to Papagayo are another popular option — a great way to explore the coves at your own pace.

Sailing and windsurfing courses are available at the Lanzarote Sailing Center at Marina Rubicon, including sessions for children.

Day Trips from Playa Blanca

Lanzarote is a small island, so full-day sightseeing tours can cover a lot of ground. Most offer hotel pick-up from Playa Blanca. Here are the most popular options.

Timanfaya & South Lanzarote Tour — Visit the Fire Mountains, El Golfo’s green lagoon and the dramatic cliffs of Los Hervideros. This is the most popular coach excursion on the island. Half-day and full-day versions are available.

Grand Island Tour — A full day covering Timanfaya, the northern caves (Jameos del Agua and Cueva de los Verdes), Mirador del Río and the César Manrique Foundation. It’s a long day but covers all the highlights in one go.

Teguise Sunday Market — The largest weekly market in the Canary Islands. You can get there by public bus (route 13, departing 09:00) or by booking a coach excursion with pick-up from Playa Blanca.

Fuerteventura Day Trip — Take the ferry from Playa Blanca to Corralejo (25 minutes) and explore Fuerteventura’s sand dunes, beaches and old town. Guided tours with return transfers are available, or you can go independently.

La Graciosa — A day trip to Lanzarote’s tiny neighbouring island. Ferries depart from Órzola in the north. Coach transfers from Playa Blanca are included on most organised tours. The island has no paved roads and stunning untouched beaches.

Family-Friendly Playa Blanca Excursions

Travelling with children? These activities are especially good for families:

  • Aqualava Waterpark — A family waterpark in Playa Blanca with a wave pool, lazy river, slides and a children’s splash area. Open year-round.
  • Submarine tour — Kids love the underwater viewing windows. Departs from Puerto Calero, with pick-up available from Playa Blanca.
  • Catamaran trips — Several operators run family-friendly sailings with swimming stops at Papagayo.
  • Palm Safari Adventure Golf — A fun mini-golf course in the resort.
  • Kayak and snorkelling tours — Available for ages 8 and up at several providers.

How to Book Playa Blanca Excursions

There are several ways to book excursions and activities:

Paradise Bikes — A friendly, locally based company in the heart of Playa Blanca that books all types of excursions, from boat trips and island tours to waterparks and buggy tours. They’re a good one-stop shop if you want to chat through your options in person.

You can also book directly with individual operators (linked above) or through online platforms such as Civitatis or GetYourGuide. Most excursions offer free cancellation up to 24 hours in advance.
