Holidays are about rest and relaxation and with a trip to Lanzarote, you’ll find plenty of ways to kick back and unwind, but your break away doesn’t have to just be about lazy days by the pool. With a trip to Lanzarote, there’s so much to do all year round for sunseekers, giving you the option to do as little or as much as you want – and as a small island, you’ll be pleased to know most things are within easy reach.
In this guide, we’ve put together some fantastic Lanzarote excursions to make sure you’re armed with everything you need to know when planning your holiday.
Explore the lunar landscape

For an exciting day trip guaranteed to take your breath away, head to the southern part of the island. With its unusual rock formations carved out by molten lava centuries before, the beauty and eeriness of the Timanfaya National Park offers an experience like no other. Hike the hostile terrain taking in epic views as you go or why not indulge yourself with a camel ride to make your trip even more unique? With miles of dramatic coastline and the spectacular green lagoon near the village of El Golfo to explore, you’re guaranteed an unforgettable day.

The Green Caves, Jameos del Agua and Mirador del Rio
Whether you’re a geology buff or not, a visit to the island’s volcanoes (dormant, of course) promises an amazing day out – and with trips to the Green Caves and the Jameos del Agua in the north of the island, you’ll get just that. The latter is a fabulous tropical paradise carved into a collapsed crater and lava tunnels by local artist and architect, César Manrique, whose influence can be seen across the island. Across the road, the Green Caves offer an untouched version of the lava ducts and an interesting history full of secrets. Head a little further north to the Mirador del Rio, another one of Manrique’s works, and you’ll experience some of the best views of the whole island.
Take a boat trip

Lanzarote offers a great selection of boat trips if you fancy getting out on the water for a day – and a trip to the picturesque island of La Graciosa comes highly recommended. The clear blue water and white sandy beaches will blow you away as you swim, snorkel and sunbathe. Alternatively, head south with a ferry ride to Fuerteventura. Just 25 minutes across the water from Playa Blanca to Corralejo, it’s ideal for a day trip – giving you the opportunity to see more of this beautiful archipelago. From Corralejo, you can simply take in the sights of the town or venture further afield to Corralejo National Park – home to Montaña Roja and a variety of endangered wildlife.

Family fun in the sun
For family-friendly Lanzarote trips you’ll all enjoy, why not head to Costa Teguise for an action-packed day in the expansive Costa Teguise Aquapark? As the largest aquapark on the island, there are a whole host of rides and water activities for kids of all ages, meaning little ones, teens and adults can all splash around and have some fun in the sun.
