The Lanzarote Effect — Pass It On

March 3, 2017

Lanzarote’s unique and dramatic scenery has provided ample inspiration for many filmmakers and photographers down the years.

Most recently, the famous Spanish film director Pedro Almodovar filmed large chunks of his classic release Broken Embraces, staring Penelope Cruz, in various locations across the island, such as Famara and El Golfo. Whilst cult classics such as One Million Years BC and Journey To The Centre of the Earth also utilised Lanzarote’s dramatic backdrops.

Now, the Canary Island Tourist Board has also got in on the act, drafting in seven teams of young filmmakers from around the world to create viral videos designed to disseminate the appeal of the archipelago online via social media and other sharing options, in a project entitled 7 Stories.

The results of this project are now available online and make for some seriously stunning viewing, most notably the Lanzarote segment, a four minute tour de force of the island’s amazing volcanic vistas and landscapes, really stands out, and is a must view for Lanzarote lovers .

The work was created by a young French team of filmmakers, Lea Amiel and Nicolas Libersalle, who specialize in capturing travelogues from around the world on video. And forms part of a wider social media strategy being instigated by the tourist board under the banner of Hello Canary Islands, a project which also has its own website at www.hellocanaryislands.com

So if you are also in love with this island, enjoy the video below, add it to your Facebook page and pass it on to others……all of these efforts will continue to maintain Lanzarote as a popular holiday destination.
