Lanzarote: Day Trip Ideas This Easter

February 26, 2018

With Shrove Tuesday over and done with, it’s time to look towards the Easter holidays, and what better way to fill those few weeks in April than with an unforgettable holiday in Lanzarote? Below, we’ve listed a few day trip ideas that will ensure that you’ll make the most of your time on such a beautiful island, with activities the whole family can enjoy.

Make a splash

Lanzarote boasts three fantastic water parks – remarkable for such a small island! If you’re tiring of the beach after a few sun-soaked days, mix it up by hitting a water park. Aqualand in Costa Teguise is the biggest, offering fast slides, and there are two smaller ones in Playa Blanca – Dino Park and Aqualava – ideal for young children.

For a slightly different theme park experience, try Rancho Texas – the wild west themed zoo just outside Puerto Del Carmen – offering animal experiences, cowboy shows and much more. As you’ll be in Lanzarote in April, outside the main high season, these venues will be less crowded – meaning you and your family can relax and enjoy your day.

Know your beaches

We don’t need to tell you which are the best beaches in Lanzarote – you can decide that for yourself. But we can give you an overview as to which are the best for you and whoever you’re bringing along to the island for your Easter trip. As our Lanzarote villas are based in Playa Blanca, we think the beach there is fantastic – offering a number of bars and restaurants to choose from to ensure the best experience. In our eyes, there’s nothing better than sitting at a beachside bar, sipping a caña of the local beer and watching the world go by.

For a quieter alternative just along the coast, try the Costa de Papagayo on the southern headland. Boasting six individual sandy coves and bays, you’ll feel like you’re in another world, far from civilisation. However, remember to bring a sunshade, as a full day exposed to the warm Lanzarote weather can lead to sunburn if you’re not careful!

Go walking (or camel riding) among the volcanoes

Lanzarote’s landscape is made up of dormant volcanoes, and one of the most dramatic examples of this lies within the Timanfaya National Park – which is well worth a visit. It’s otherworldly landscape is best traversed using a chain of camels – which really reflects the North African nature of the island, as it’s only about a hundred miles from the Western Sahara coast. While not as high-octane as a water park, it certainly is an unforgettable experience you can only get on Lanzarote.

Embark on a voyage!

While this one isn’t a Lanzarote day trip, we’d highly recommend the neighbouring islands of La Graciosa, Isla de Alegranza and Fuertavenrura, which are just short boat rides away. This is ideal if you’ve spent a few days in Playa Blanca looking out and wondering what it’s like on the other side of the water!

The neighbouring islands are brimming with activities. Fuerteventura is a bigger island awash with great food, lovely beaches and plenty of fantastic landscapes to explore. La Graciosa is a small island to the north of Lanzarote, and offers beautiful unspoilt beaches such as the Playa de las Conchas – bring a sunshade though, as there isn’t much infrastructure on the island!
