Book Flights Early

January 10, 2017

As the demand for holidays in the Canaries continues to rise holidaymakers are being advised to book their flights soon in order to secure the best deals.

According to recent reports in the travel media flights and holidays to Lanzarote and the Canary Islands continue to sell briskly, as more and more UK based tour operators turn away from other markets such as Turkey and Tunisia in favour of safer Spanish alternatives.

As a result prices for holidays and flights to all holiday destinations in Spain are now rising sharply as demand soars in the wake of the collapse of tourism in former competitor destinations across the Middle East.

Spain is now being viewed as a safe haven and the ‘reserve currency’ of tourism as holidaymakers abandon former favourites such as Turkey, where bookings have reportedly fallen by more than 50% since the recent wave of terrorist bombings. Tunisia is also now effectively closed to tourists, whilst the popularity of other markets such as Egypt is also on the wane.

As a result many tour operators have jacked up their prices accordingly, with The Independent reporting last week that Thomas Cook are currently charging 79% more for flights to the Canaries during the first week of the school summer holidays than for the equivalent tickets to Turkey. Whilst Thomson has also increased prices on many package holiday deals to popular Spanish destinations.

Industry experts predict that these prices are only going to increase as the summer approaches so any guests who have already booked accommodation but are holding out for better flight deals are advised to take what’s currently on offer in order to secure seats at reasonable rates.
