Lots of our guests like to pop over to the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura on a voyage of discovery; and why not? It’s no distance by ferry and there is plenty to see and do – as this larger Canary Island is home to some of the most beautiful beaches on the archipelago, as well as some historic little towns and villages.Fuerteventura may lack the dramatic scenery of Lanzarote, but its charm lies in its tranquil pace of life and wide open spaces, as the island is much larger than Lanzarote but with about half the population. So it is a great place to explore, particularly by car, as visitors drive through gently undulating arid scenery, much of which is populated by goats (make sure you try the local goats’ cheese whilst you’re there by the way – it’s the best in the Canaries).
If you’ve booked one of our villas in Playa Blanca then you’ll find that the ferry port to Fuerteventura is right on your doorstep. And there are a number of different options for those wishing to travel across the Bocaina Straits to Corralejo. The quickest service is the Fuerteventura Express, which is a passenger ferry only operated by Fred Olsen.
