Prime Location

January 10, 2017

Anyone reading the national press in the UK will be well aware that the British Prime Minister David Cameron has been enjoying an Easter break on Lanzarote, claiming that he needs time to get away from it all and think, no doubt about the impending Euro referendum. And where else would he spend it than in Playa Blanca, the island’s southern most resort.

The Cameron’s are emerging as genuine fans of the island, this is now their second visit in three years. And whatever your personal political persuasion there can be no doubting the fact that the Prime Ministers patronage actually carries an enormous amount of PR value, as it garners huge amounts of coverage in both the UK and the national press.

Previous visits have been carefully choreographed, with photo shoots staged at virtually every iconic landmark on the island. But this current visit is decidedly more low key, with the Cameron’s posing for just one photo call at the start of their break before vainly trying to fade into anonimity in their all inclusive hotel.

However that hasn’t managed to quieten the commentary on social media, which at times has bordered on the hilarious. With one twitter user claiming, tongue in cheek, that Cameron was steaming drunk with his shirt off at the bar, whilst another disparaged his rather limited banter at the buffet!

British citizens who have stayed at home to endure the woeful Easter weather have also got in on the action with over 20,000 signing up to a petition calling for Cameron to be banned and excluded from the UK permanently on his return!
