Reviews

Thank you for the welcome home but mostly for the brilliant service we received. We were a bit dubious booking online with a company we'd not heard of but we must say it was so easy and we would absolutely book again, be assured of that! Easy and efficient communication by email from the very start, the reassuring telephone call to check all was well which led to reliable help and assistance with hiring our car. The villa itself was just right for what we wanted, a lovely clean villa in a quiet area but only 15 minutes from the restaurants and shops. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, thank you, from the Nicholson's. [read more]

Britain’s Workforce: Productivity Data Breakdown

Blog

At Optima Villas, we wanted to know whether Brits think their holiday allowance at work is acceptable and learn more about what would make them more professionally productive - so we conducted an online survey to find out.   With answers ranging from more flexible working hours to longer breaks during the working day, we asked the general public to tell us what would make them more productive at work.   Respondents were able to select more than one answer, and the results are included below - segmented by gender, age group and location. Christmas on Lanzarote

Blog

What can you expect in the way of Christmas celebrations on Lanzarote? While the annual midwinter festival is not as commercial as in many northern European countries, it is still a big deal for Canarians. As a Catholic country, much of the traditional celebrations revolve around midnight mass for the older generation. [...] read more >>

Flower Power

Blog

Over the winter months, Lanzarote is a great place to visit if you want to see some floral colour. As the year round Spring like climate ensures that even in the depths of winter there are plenty of plants in flower and most of the trees remain green. Most people can now readily identify bougainvillea, the incredible climber with papery blooms that come in a range of hot, tropical colours, such as magenta, sunset orange and hot pink. If you are visiting Lanzarote over the coming month and you’re a fan of live music then you’re in for a real treat, as the unique music festival Arrecife En Vivo gets underway this week, delivering a whole heap of great young acts from around Europe as well as a walking tour of the island’s capital city. Pilot Plight

Blog

There were some dramatic scenes along the shoreline in Playa Blanca recently as a 20 strong pod of pilot whales attempted to beach themselves just off the coast at Los Colorados. Resulting in tourists and locals joining together to create a human chain that eventually helped to force the confused ceteceans back out into the open waters of the Atlantic. This type of self imposed stranding is particularly common amongst pilot whales, although the scientific community remains divided as to just why this strange phenomenon occurs. [...] read more >>

September Sales

Blog

Whilst summer is slowly turning into Autumn in the UK September remains one of the best months of the year to visit Lanzarote. As the heat and high winds of August dissipate, the tourist crowds thin out a little and the sea still remains comfortably warm. Many locals and regular visitors to the island mark September out as their favourite time of the year. The main reason is that the Trade Winds, which blow across the island from April to August, finally die away. Leaving calm seas for bathing and more bearable temperatures for enjoying regular visits to the beach. [...] read more >>
