Bike Hire in Playa Blanca – Optima Villas Lanzarote
Bike Hire in Playa Blanca
Hiring bikes during your holiday in Playa Blanca will give you the chance to get around within the resort without having to drive. There are also several villages and attractions that are not too far from the town, with the terrain between them and Playa Blanca mostly consisting of flat ground, making it viable to cycle to these spots as well.
Where to Hire?
Established in 1998, Papagayo bikes have a range of machines available for whatever cycling experience you’d like to have. From City bikes to Mountain Bikes to Aluminium Racing Bikes, as well as children’s bikes, kids seats and carts, they will be able to kit you out completely. Helmet hire is included in the price for each bike and the staff can direct you if you’d like more information about specific places to visit. They also have a delivery service and an in-house mechanic to ensure that the bikes are in tip top condition. Prices start from €11 per day, with cheaper rates being offered for hire between 3-6 days and for over 7 days.

Crazy Bike Lanzarote
For holidaymakers staying in the Las Coloradas area of Playa Blanca, there is a bike rental shop close to hand here too. Crazy Bike Lanzarote has electric, mountain, racing and city bikes as well as two and four seater tuk-tuk style covered bikes. These latter vehicles are available for rent by the hour, so would make an ideal alternative if you just fancied getting around Playa Blanca for a morning or afternoon, without having to walk or push a buggy.

Cycle Routes in Playa Blanca
The resort of Playa Blanca is reasonably flat, so cycling around the town is something that cyclists of all levels should be able to enjoy without finding it too arduous. Obviously, even on flat ground, cycling in the summer heat is likely to be pretty hot work so make sure you have plenty of liquids to quench your thirst, sunblock and a map of the area you wish to explore.
You can certainly cycle between your accommodation and the beaches at Papagayo, Playa Dorada or the Water Park which is close to Playa Flamingo.
Further afield, more experienced cyclists will find that the attractions of Los Hervideros and El Golfo are within reach, as the main road to Las Breñas is 11 kilometres from Playa Blanca. At Las Breñas, you turn off the main road and will find there is a much quieter road that goes past the Salinas de Janubio (salt flats) and up to Los Hervideros and on to El Golfo. This part of the cycle is also 11 kilometres, so a round trip to these attractions would be the equivalent of cycling 44 kilometres there and back.
A shorter route to explore Yaiza, the pretty village that is the municipal centre for Playa Blanca, consists of a bike ride of 14.8 kilometres one way. The road is very flat all the way to the village although it is quite busy at times. The village of Yaiza has been voted prettiest village in Spain in the past and is home to a traditional Canarian restaurant, La Era, and also provides excellent views across the countryside to the Timanfaya National Park.
